On August 27th, 2023, Sam Norton collapsed at mile 23 of the Santa Rosa Marathon. Three days after his funeral, his application to run The Speed Project- an unsanctioned relay race from Los Angeles to Las Vegas- was accepted. His closest friends knew the best way to honor his memory was to run the race he had been dreaming of. They named their team “The Sam Project.”
